Key takeaways

  • Pick the office for the follow-ups, not just the first visit. A treatment plan usually means more than one trip.
  • The 12 to 2 daily closure rules out lunch-hour visits near work. Visits happen before work, after work, or on a day off.
  • A short drive home matters after a visit, when a stiff neck has just been examined.
  • All three offices are one clinic. If your weeks change, ask whether visits can happen at more than one office.

The desk's three offices page lists where each door is. The 270 loop guide matches corridors to offices. This guide handles a narrower problem the metro creates daily: you sleep in St. Peters and work in Earth City, or you live in Oakville and work downtown, or you commute from Belleville to Clayton. Two sensible offices, and a crash plan that means several visits. Which door?

Four questions that pick the door

1. When can you actually go?

The midday closure is the big one. A lot of people plan to slip out at lunch near work. From 12 to 2, every office is closed. So a near-work office only helps if you can go before your shift starts or right after it ends, Monday through Thursday. If your realistic window is 5 o'clock, the question becomes which office you can reach by then from where you are at 4:30.

2. Which way is traffic moving at that hour?

A 5 o'clock visit near work lets the worst of the commute clear while you are inside. A 5 o'clock visit near home means sitting in that commute first. For someone working in Clayton and living in south county, that is the difference between leaving work and driving to Tesson Ferry at rush hour, or driving home and going later. Only you know which of those you will actually do three weeks in a row.

3. How do you feel driving after a visit?

Right after an exam or treatment, some people feel fine and some feel sore for a while. If the drive home from a near-work office is 40 minutes on I-64 with a neck that just got examined, that matters. A shorter drive home is a point for the near-home office.

4. What do your weeks look like?

If you work from home two days a week, or your shifts rotate, a near-home office may fit more of your weeks. If you are at a job site that moves, pick the office near where you sleep.

These are starting points, not rules. Call the office with your home and work locations and ask what they suggest.

One clinic, not three separate places

Missouri Injury Clinic runs all three offices under Joseph L. Hollingsworth, DC, with the same three published lanes behind each door: auto injuries, TBI and concussion rehab, and sports injuries. If your schedule changes mid-plan, ask whether a follow-up can happen at a different office. The desk does not publish the clinic's policy on that, because the clinic does not. Ask.

The wrong answer

The office you never get to. Weighing two doors for a week is how an exam this week becomes an exam next month. If you cannot decide, pick the one you can reach soonest and call it this morning. The clinic says it reserves same-day appointment times daily for car accident injuries.

Hurt this week, somewhere between home and work? Start with an exam. Hazelwood (314) 627-1411, Tesson Ferry (314) 530-5480, O'Fallon (636) 280-0990. All three close 12 to 2 daily.

If anything on the emergency list is present, the nearest emergency room is the answer, whichever county you are in. Everything on this desk is educational, not medical advice.
